I designed and developed a responsive website for FischerGourmet.com that would render a great user experience across all device types. I was responsible for UI/UX design & front-end development. To design the new website for Fischer Gourmet, I listened to Private Chef Dan Fischer's vision and incorporated his core design elements.
The first phase of this project consisted of researching existing culinary and private chef websites not only for inspiration, but to gain insight into what types of customers are interested in hiring private chefs. Our research also helped better understand the landscape of private chefs that are located in the Boston area, along with the services they offer.
After reviewing a variety of culinary and private chef websites, I worked with Dan Fischer to figure out the website structure and content. First, I created a sitemap that helped represent the main navigation, which was purposely kept small to ensure that the website content could be quickly and easily accessible. I also created low-fidelity wireframes to map out the website's structure and page layouts for both mobile and desktop. These were great for communicating the design vision.
Design element highlights on the website include using the Google Fonts API to add web fonts, embedding an Instagram feed on the Gallery page using a third-party site, creating a sticky element for the Menu page, adding animations, creating a mobile side nav, and creating a PHP contact form.
Once the website was ready to launch, I assisted Dan Fischer with purchasing the domain, FischerGourmet.com. We then purchased a web hosting plan with GoDaddy.com and uploaded all of our web pages and assets to the file manager. We also purchased a website security plan and set up a custom email address for his business.
